Critique of 3 competitor sites for On-Page SEO

In my Social Media class we are working with a non-profit company called Room To Read. I am critiquing three competitor sites regarding their on-page search engine optimization.

The first site is called Books For Africa. I think they do a good job of getting their keywords on their page effectively. It has great content that addresses exactly what they are doing. The main keywords that I used to find them were books and literacy. They come up on the first page of google. They repeat their keywords often and I think they do a good job in helping potential customers find their site online.

The second site that is similar to Room To Read is NCFL & Family Literacy. I am not an expert on SEO but this appears to be missing some important factors. Their home page is very short. It doesn’t seem to repeat the important keywords, with the exception of the word literacy. I feel it needs some more photos with tags on them that could be related to keywords. When I was researching articles on SEO, I found this article The 5 Most Important On-Page SEO Factors and NCFL & Family literacy really seems to miss the mark on those important things.

The third site is called Worldfund. I believe this site does a great job with on-page SEO. They have great pictures that are tagged with keywords, very interesting content, videos, keywords are repeated often. In my opinion this site definitely is successful with their on-page SEO.

Five Helpful Articles On Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

1. The article titled The 5 Most Important On-page SEO Factors addresses how to get potential customers to visit your page. The five factors discussed are 1. Content 2. Keyword 3. Page Title 4. Meta Description and 5. Keyword Density. It gives you “to do” tips on how many words minimum, how many times to repeat keywords and many other useful ideas. This is definitely a good article to check out on search engine optimization.

It shows that people are getting so used to seeing paid ads that they are just tuning them out and are sometimes a waste of money.
